Five on Friday: Elephant Edition

THE GOOD LIFE BLOG

Linking up for another edition of Five on Friday today with April, Christina, Natasha, and Darci!

This Five on Friday is going to be a little different from my usual Funnies. Since spring has officially sprung here in good ol’ Indiana, I’m in the mood to shop…but not just for any old thing. I, of course, have to have a theme. Life is better with organization. And lists. Don’t get me started. Basically, this post is feeding my type-a personality, and I’m loving it.

I love elephants. I do. They’re cute and smart and amazing. I would go to the zoo and only look at the elephants if I could. When I visited the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago a few years ago, there weren’t any elephants. I’m still not over it.

Here are some of the best elephant-themed items that I’ve found lately!

Five on Friday - 1

I need this bookend in my life. Elephants and color and books…you thought I was going to say “oh my!” I didn’t. You’re welcome, mom.

Five on Friday - 2

I love lamp.

I hate that movie, but I couldn’t resist.

I do love this lamp though. I’m usually not a fan of a lot of white, but the blue totally makes up for it.

Five on Friday - 3

These sunglasses are amazing. Too bad I don’t have 60 bucks to spend on them. Thanks a lot, Anthropologie.

Five on Friday - 4

I can’t even say anything about this shirt from Shop Orange Boutique because it’s just too cute. I want.

Elephant Phone Case Collage

I’ve never shopped on Etsy before. I know, I know, I’m a little behind. I definitely may start though. These are the phone cases that screamed my name, and I have no idea how I would choose! I do know one thing though. I like chevron and the color blue way more than I thought I did.

What are you loving this week?

Happy Friday!

Spring Favorites

The weather has been so nice here for the past couple of days, so I’m officially ready for spring! It’s my favorite season of the year – warm, sometimes rainy, and tulips! Who could need anything else? Old Navy (which is basically the bomb.com) has an awesome spring palette available now, so I thought I’d share.

I’m no fashionista, but these are some of my favorites!

Old Navy Spring Collage with Website

Eyelet Shift Dress: I love the textured look to this dress, and of course, you can’t go wrong with navy.

Lightweight Tie-Waist Jacket: This jacket looks like it would be flattering on so many body types. They also offer a dark green color that I would love to have.

Lightweight Textured Boyfriend Cardi: This looks so comfortable and easy. That’s my kind of style.

Cropped Skinny Boyfriend Jeans: These would be amazing with heels or Converse. Awesome.

Sleeveless Poppy-Print Blouse: Something about this top just makes me happy. It’s so colorful!

Sueded D’Orsay Flats: A girl can never have too many flats, and these are so cute!

Cropped Denim Jacket: I just love it.

What are some of your favorites for spring?

Non-Scale Victories 10/03/13

I’m back for another edition of Non-Scale Victories!

It is so common to focus completely on that number when it is really only one aspect of being healthy. I had a couple of non-scale victories this week!

  • I had to buy a new pair of pants to work out in! Since earlier in the summer, I’ve been wearing these pretty often.

IMG_0859[1]Awful, I know, but extremely comfortable. They’re a size extra large from Old Navy. When I was doing my 5K training on Monday, I was so uncomfortable because I had to keep pulling my pants up! It was annoying, but I wasn’t mad about it. I ventured on over to Target and bought these bad boys.

IMG_0860[1]On clearance I might add! They’re a size medium. Now, I have no idea how sizes compare at Target and Old Navy, but I’m counting that as a win!

  • My second victory also came on Monday during my run, so I guess it was a really great day! There I was, chugging along for the last couple of minutes of the run, and I get passed by a guy who was about my age. You know the type – hot, thin, but also buff. He was obviously someone who ran regularly and for long periods of time. I’ll be honest, I was embarrassed to be ‘running’ next to him. My face looked like a tomato (damn redhead complexion), my thighs were slapping together at every bounce, and I’m pretty sure I can walk faster than I was running at that point. Even with all of that, he looked over at me, gave me a thumbs up, and kept on going. For all I know, that could have been the runner’s secret club sign for ‘run faster, fatty,’ but it made me feel amazing. Here was someone who was actually acknowledging what I was trying to do and wasn’t judging me. He was actually encouraging me. It was awesome. Too bad I couldn’t get a picture. I’ m creepy, but I’m not that creepy.

Although I’m really proud of my non-scale victories this week, I’m also hoping for a victory on the scale tomorrow. We’ll both have to wait and see! Happy almost-Friday!
